Brooke Cochrane debuts her first fictional novel featuring an epic high school love story
“STRANGER” is a thrilling young adult novel about two strangers in a small-town, Hartley White and Jason Carter.
In “STRANGER,” by Brooke Cochrane, Hartley is the girl who seems to have everything figured out. Jason is the mysterious boy, who everyone in town is talking about. One day, Jason and Hartley are paired up as partners in English class, and a roller coaster of a high school romance commences.
“I began to write this book back when I was in high school, about eight to ten years ago.” Cochrane said. “I wanted to write an epic love story, but with a giant twist.”
Prior to meeting Jason, Hartley was either busy with her two best friends or with her nose in a book. Jason was the quiet guy who lived across the street and kept to himself. Rumors circulated about his family, and gossip spreads fast in a small town. Can these two opposites beat the odds or are the rumors all true?
“I want people to read this novel and feel a connection with the plot and the characters;” Cochrane said, “for the audience to become engrossed in all of the twists and turns.”

About the author
Brooke Cochrane received her bachelor’s degree in communication with a minor in writing from Eastern Connecticut. She has been reader and writer for majority of her life. Cochrane has had two short stories published her university’s literary journal, Eastern Exposure, in 2018 and 2019. She enjoys drinking boba tea and spending time with her cat, Oliver. Cochrane currently resides in Plantsville, Conn.
