New Christian Fiction Book Addresses Loss, Hurting and Forgiveness

Former Army Ranger and police officer comes back from hiatus with his second book

Author Forrest Hutter draws from his own past experiences in a literary endeavor to take his readers on an emotional ride in his new book “The Prodigal Father”.

Set in Minnesota, the story follows a widower named Tom Davis who recently suffered the loss of his son, Eli, who was killed overseas while at war. Tom prepares to eulogize Eli but memories from the loss of his wife, which led to the mistreatment and abuse of Eli, keep running through his mind. His only family left, a now adult daughter, Jess, looks at him as more of an acquaintance than a father.

The book blends present and past with flashbacks that show the painful history of Tom, Eli, Jess and their family. The flashbacks portray how loss and suffering took their inevitable toll on Tom and how his life capitulated into alcoholism, abuse and loss of faith.

“I want the book to spark conversation amongst people and families that may be struggling with past traumas and addictions,” Hutter said. “The book has a lot to offer in healing and forgiveness and showing people it’s okay to hurt. Unfortunately, sometimes we hurt others through our grief.”

Throughout the book, Tom is on a journey searching for forgiveness from Jess and looking to heal himself from the wounds left from previous trauma.

“Everyone has experienced pieces of this story in their own lives,” Hutter said. “The personal connection of a reader to this story will make them feel emotions that might have been ignored or forgotten about throughout their lives.”

Are Your Beliefs About Salvation Founded In the Bible, Or In Man’s Teaching?

Xulon Press presents a controversial look at the topic of salvation.

Author Randy Chesler addresses some common misperceptions in The Untold Truth About Salvation: What You Don’t Hear in Churches ($17.99, paperback, 9781662860843; $8.99, e-book, 9781662860850).

Chesler was raised in church and believed he had a clear idea of what salvation was and what it meant. As he carried out his personal Bible studies, however, he found that what he had been taught in church did not always line up with what he was reading in Scripture. In this book, he invites readers to stop ignoring the questions that nag at them and start addressing those puzzling mysteries.

“[This book] takes you on a journey, from Genesis to Revelation, challenging everything you thought you knew about God and the Bible. This controversial outlook explores the real truth behind God’s ultimate plan of salvation,” said Chesler.

If You Have Hard Questions and Complicated Feelings, You Are Not Alone

Xulon Press presents the voice of the mentor you wish you had.

Author Linda Fritchlee seeks to encourage God’s treasured women in Things That Matter: Contemporary Subjects for Contemporary Women ($16.49, paperback, 9781662860829; $7.99, e-book, 9781662860836).

Fritchlee has mentored numerous women over the years, and a number of complicated issues come up time and again; issues like abandonment, divorce, setting boundaries, and the loss of a child, among others. She has seen firsthand the pain experienced by those who feel they have no one to turn to in their times of difficulty to share their stories and seek Godly wisdom. In this book, she hopes to help these women understand that others care about their pain and want to be part of the solution.

“Women are often robbed of experiencing the fullness of life as they struggle with life’s most intense issues because often, they may not have the skills needed to guide them toward a successful resolve. If any of us could figure it out, we wouldn’t need faith in God,” said Fritchlee.

  • Jennifer E. Embury releases ‘Loaves of Bread: My Life as a Veterinarian’

Jennifer E. Embury releases ‘Loaves of Bread: My Life as a Veterinarian’

New book goes inside the mind of a domestic violence victim and shows healing and peace can be attained by faith in Jesus Christ

In her first book, “A Drink of Water: A Memoir about My Life with Men,” Jennifer E. Embury delves into the traumatic events that took place during her childhood. She now returns into the publishing scene with the release of “Loaves of Bread: My Life as a Veterinarian” (published by Archway Publishing).

Embury shares how, despite so many obstacles, she became a successful veterinarian. She also looks back at how on November 4, 2007, she was baptized and received her first Holy Communion. About 10 days later, while she was sleeping, the Lord raised her up to the ceiling so she could not move. For about three hours, she was suspended in the air. The next morning, when she woke up, she had an insatiable hunger for the Word of God. She read every word in the Bible like it was the bread of life. After many months of study, she memorized all of Scripture.

In this memoir, Embury explores how she found success despite an interwoven cycle of child abuse, drug addiction, codependency, and domestic violence. She also shows how counseling combined with her deep relationship with Jesus Christ allowed her to heal.

“This book will appeal to those with a previous history of traumatic child abuse resulting in patterns of addiction, codependency, and domestic violence. It provides a way out when the situation seems hopeless. It goes inside the face of domestic violence as it is happening in real-time. It depicts the terror that victims encounter, but it also offers help and a way out when you feel there are no options,” Embury says. When asked what she wants readers to take away from the book, she answers, “There is hope, healing, and redemption and there is a way out.” For more details about the book, please visit https://www.archwaypublishing.com/en/bookstore/bookdetails/839717-loaves-of-bread

New Christian Children’s Book Promotes Acceptance of Differences in Children

A young zebra is born a little different but finds his true colors

Lynette Koch shows off her illustration and writing skills in her debut picture book about a unique zebra that is born with colored polka dots trying to stay afloat during his wave of emotions before his first days of kindergarten.

In “Z the Zebra Goes to Kindergarten”, an African-born zebra named “Z” is born with rainbow-colored polka dots instead of stripes. His dots light up different colors depending on his mood, and he is unsure if the other kids will be accepting of his differences.

“Many children go through times where they feel hopeless, feel they don’t belong or think they aren’t good enough,” Koch said. “Z the Zebra would like to shed light on some of these issues to help children to take one day at a time, look for the blessings in each day and know how loved they are.”

The book references God’s love for all and details Z throughout his entire year of kindergarten as he interacts with new animals from all walks of life in his class from llamas to elephants. Koch believes that this book will help children navigate their own anxiety when starting something new and put their trust in God.

“I am sure at one time or another, we all need to be encouraged that there is hope in the world, to keep moving forward, even if it’s just one step at a time,” Koch said. “I would love for all of the Z the Zebra readers to have the same feeling.”

  • Author Marion Dees’ new book “Plumber’s Gap: The Lost Gold Shipment of 1882” is a sweeping tale of family and legacy in a Western mining town

Author Marion Dees’ new book “Plumber’s Gap: The Lost Gold Shipment of 1882” is a sweeping tale of family and legacy in a Western mining town

Recent release “Plumber’s Gap: The Lost Gold Shipment of 1882” from Page Publishing author Marion Dees is a compelling novel that begins in Gold Rush-era South Dakota with the Plumber family as they expanded their mining claim and accumulated thousands of acres near the wild West town of Deadwood. The staggering riches they mined from their property were hidden away, until future generations used them to build a life for themselves and their extended families.

Marion Dees, a married father, grandfather, and construction professional who discovered writing while recovering from serious heart issues, has completed his new book “Plumber’s Gap: The Lost Gold Shipment of 1882”: a gripping work of historical fiction inspired by his love for the state of South Dakota.

In 1875, gold was discovered in French Creek, near what is now known as Custer, South Dakota. But larger amounts of gold were found in the Deadwood and Whitewood Creeks the same year. Although the Black Hills and the land around it all belonged to the Sioux Indians and the Lakota tribes, white men poured into the area, staking claims on bits and pieces of land. Most came to the Deadwood Gulch area; this illegal settlement was known as Deadwood, the most dangerous settlement in the United States at the time.

By the year 1905, most of the smaller gold mines had played out or had been sold to the larger outfits. Also, by now, most of the land granted to settlers by the government’s Homestead Act had already been claimed by farmers and/or ranchers and ex-miners. However, some of the homesteads had been reverted to the government because of the death of the homesteader, and some just gave up and left their homestead. The land around Deadwood and Lead was rough land for farming, too rocky and hilly for most farmers. This land was now for sale at $1.25 per acre from the federal government. The railroad had moved in and was also selling land along their right of way for cheap, helping towns spring up all along the railroad tracks.

Mary ran over to where the gravel had been spread, bent down, and picked up a gold coin. “This, Mama, this is what I was talking about. They were everywhere, hundreds of them.”
Published by Page Publishing, Marion Dees’ engrossing book is a superb choice for avid fiction readers of all ages.

Readers who wish to experience this engaging work can purchase “Plumber’s Gap: The Lost Gold Shipment of 1882” at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes Store, Amazon, Google Play, or Barnes and Noble.
