Sloan Blecher’s “The Shadow” presents a compelling narrative filled with passion, despair, duplicity, and retaliation.

“The Shadow” explores Jack and Liz Campbell’s life and family in a rural community. Very few farming communities thrive. Most simply endure, sourcing sustenance from a strong family and community ethos that dominates their lives, but when they achieve their land ownership dream, the outlook for their challenging rural life is primed to improve. Derailment starts soon after a new family, the Duncans, arrive in the valley. Relationships become troubled when Jack betrays the absolute trust of his family and community, exposing both families to the trauma of psychological violence and family breakdown.

Despite growing their family with new additions, Jack defies his wife and family to satisfy his own ambitions. Families splinter in unpredictable ways. Hard men cast shadows that others struggle to escape from. Few make it back to daylight; however, redemption awaits those who do.

Sloan Blecher grew up on a farm in Victoria, Australia, with many elements of that property described in his first broadly published book, “The Shadow.” He now lives in Sydney with his wife, children and dog. Besides living and working in rural environments, Sloan worked in finance, government and semi-government roles before spending many years supporting large corporates and multinationals in the services industry. Sloan enjoys writing about personal experiences and their consequences, many of which have been shared in “The Shadow.”

“The Shadow,” Blecher’s first novel, was released in 2023 and is now available on Amazon, Booktopia, and Barnes & Noble.

Amanda Perry has completed her new book, “Walking Miracles”: a gripping and heartfelt memoir containing short stories and poems that reflect upon the different trauma and struggles faced by the author and how, through her courage and faith, she discovered growth and healing to survive it all.

“In ‘Walking Miracles,’ I talk about the traumas that formed my life and made me who I am today,” writes Perry. “I chose to write about my trauma and bring it to the world as a means to help others who are going through the same thing. This book is a collection of short stories and poems as well as letters from my abuser, which outline the story of my traumas. In here I created a character known as Grace Hope, who undergoes a lot of challenges against a serial rapist, and in the end she became a symbol of my trauma and how I was able to defeat it despite all the challenges that were thrown at her. In ‘Walking Miracles,’ you will come to an understanding of your own self-worth, as I talk about how I was nothing and meant something more. In here I lost people, dealt with an abusive partner, lived through a physical illness that was undiagnosed for twenty years, and almost gave up hope to the world. Yet I also found the true meaning to life and became closer to those that know me. I hope when you read ‘Walking Miracles,’ some part of it will stay with you for a lifetime.”

  • Author Francis Murscoe’s new book “The Woman Who Saved Me” shares the story of the author’s experience in the automobile industry for his work release

Author Francis Murscoe’s new book “The Woman Who Saved Me” shares the story of the author’s experience in the automobile industry for his work release

Recent release “The Woman Who Saved Me” from Page Publishing author Francis Murscoe is a one-of-a-kind memoir that offers a glimpse into the author’s life, describing the ups and downs of his career, his work release following his conviction, and the meeting of the woman who saved his life.

Author Francis Murscoe, who was born and raised in New Jersey, has completed his new book “The Woman Who Saved Me”: a gripping and potent memoir that allows readers to experience the author’s life from his perspective.

Author Francis Murscoe writes, “I appeared before Judge Powell at 8:00 a.m. to take a plea deal that was offered: eighteen months’ work release out in twelve months for good behavior. After twelve months, I have to make restitution for 375 per month. I have never done work release before. Knowing that was going to be my sentence, I got a job selling cars two days earlier. I am sixty-four years old and hadn’t worked a real job in sixteen years.”

He continues, “They sat me in a dayroom while they processed my paperwork. You have to lock your phone up because no electric devices are allowed in sleeping quarters. There are five pods with eight twin beds in each. They have vending machines, no TVs. You bring your own linens and towels and clothes. You must have a mesh bag. You are stripped and searched before entering. I had almost everything I needed, except a mesh bag. There were six people in my pod. I wanted to be back to work that day, but I had to take a drug test at exactly 9:00 p.m. Another guy went with me and he couldn’t pee. I passed, which meant I could go to work in the morning.”

Published by Page Publishing, Francis Murscoe’s engaging work offers his unique perspective, inviting readers to view the world through his eyes.

  • Author Ron Wilson launches a new press campaign for ‘Joseph Akeroyd: rediscovering a prison reformer’

Author Ron Wilson launches a new press campaign for ‘Joseph Akeroyd: rediscovering a prison reformer’

Book provides a fresh insight into the nature of prison system in Victoria, Australia from 1924 to 1947

Ron Wilson, in his first literary offering titled “Joseph Akeroyd: rediscovering a prison reformer” (published by Xlibris AU), combines the historical and contemporary experiences of prison reformers and prison education practitioners to provide unique insights into the complex yet compelling experiences in implementing reforms within prisons.

This book takes a closer look into the legacy of Joseph Akeroyd, the longest serving inspector general in Victoria’s penal system between 1924 and 1947. After many years of brutal punitive prison regime, Akeroyd brought his education inspired therapeutic approach into prison and prisoner management. These radical and innovative reforms occurred between and beyond two world wars and a major international economic depression. Whilst many of his reforms were not heralded at the time and for many years after, this biographical account celebrates these reforms and examines the relevance of these reforms in modern-day penology.

“This book engages readers at several different levels,” Wilson states. “It 1) Reveals the oscillating and diverse political, judicial and community views on the functions of prisons; 2) Examines the challenging nature of prison reform, and the strategies reformers used to fight for and implement change; 3) The historical interrelationship between education in prisons and management of prisons; and 4) Provides real life stories and anecdotes to share sometimes humourous and tragic insights into the experiences of prison educators, prison management and prisoners.”

It is the author’s hope that the publication of “Joseph Akeroyd: rediscovering a prison reformer” will challenge readers to reflect on the role of education in prisons and gain insights on the challenges involved in prisoner education. Author Shares an Unforeseen Journey of Recovery from a Brain Surgery That Left Him Paralyzed

How author Joseph C. Salvo went from being paralyzed to a walking medical miracle in three and a half weeks

Author Joseph C. Salvo was going about his busy day as a middle school computer teacher, when he tripped over nothing in the hallway. Later, he struggled to reach a book on a shelf. Then, he tripped again.

Unable to explain these events, Salvo went to his doctor, where he underwent an MRI. He was shocked to learn the strange occurrences were a result of a brain tumor and he needed major surgery to remove it. Within just two weeks, Salvo visited three doctors, had four MRIs, was diagnosed with a meningioma tumor, and endured 12 hours of intensive brain surgery.

“Because of nerve damage, the surgery left me totally paralyzed on my left side, and partially paralyzed on my right,” Salvo said. “I was told by every medical professional that I would never walk. After taking one-inch steps, I asked my doctor when I could really get going. He told me, ‘When you can wiggle your toes.’ I responded, ‘Hallelujah.’”

In his new memoir, “I Wiggled My Toes…Hallelujah!: An Unforeseen Journey of Recovery from Brain Surgery,” Salvo shares his remarkable story of healing and perseverance. Determined to walk, he worked from the time he woke up until the time he went to sleep. Salvo defied the odds and stumped his nurses and doctors when he walked out, just three and a half weeks later.

“When I left the rehabilitation facility, the entire medical staff referred to me as a ‘miracle’,” Salvo said. “They encouraged me to share my story, to give hope to others who had dealt with, or were presently dealing with, a life-changing experience.”

Inspired by his doctors’ encouragement and his passion for helping others, Salvo hopes his story may be a motivation for readers struggling with life-changing obstacles to trust in God’s plan.

“My purpose is to offer advice to individuals who need help and be an uplifting voice for their journeys,” Salvo said. “This book is a spiritual and healing example of what can happen when we allow God on our side.”

Author Carolyn Henry’s new book “Sugar Coated Tears” is an enthralling memoir that reveals the struggles faced by the author and how she overcame it all

Recent release “Sugar Coated Tears: When Life Is Everything but Sweet” from Page Publishing author Carolyn Henry follows the author through a series of triumphs and challenges that she experienced on her journey through life. Through her tale, readers will discover how each moment, whether joyful or sorrowful, helped to shape the author into the courageous and fearless woman she is today.

LONG BEACH, CALIF. (PRWEB) DECEMBER 30, 2022

Carolyn Henry, who attended Cheyney University, has completed her new book “Sugar Coated Tears: When Life Is Everything but Sweet”: a powerful memoir that explores the highs and lows of the author’s life, and how she managed to survive every challenge that life presented her with.

“Think about the taste of your tears. Is there really a comparison to a slice of your favorite cake and a spoon of salt?” writes Henry. “Reminisce on those moments of joy or pain as you taste the moisture from your eyes. Although our tears protrude from our eyes, the water—whether sweet or salty—pours from the soul. Usually this purge is necessary for a healthy emotional human. ‘Sugarcoated Tears’ is a combination of salty life decisions and sweet decisions that were worth every calorie. Journey with me as we skip, hop, run, jump, sleep, and cry through my life—a life of joys, miscarriages, divorce, suicide, depression, exotic dancing, and ultimately, homelessness.

“Through it all, I cried cake and salt, and would I do it again? Yes. Every tear has made me who I am today. I am a true believer that in order to taste the authenticity of your true self, you must swallow the sour even when forced. Never give up on yourself! Enjoy the tears…”

Published by Page Publishing, Carolyn Henry’s poignant story will captivate the hearts and minds of readers as they follow along on the author’s journey of triumph and hope despite the odds she faced along the way. Expertly paced and deeply personal, “Sugar Coated Tears” is an inspirational tale that is sure to remain with readers long after its conclusion.

  • Author Vladimir Roth’s new book “Eva Neufeldova Diary” offers an intimate look into the life of a young Jewish woman living in the fascist Slovakia in the early 1940s

Author Vladimir Roth’s new book “Eva Neufeldova Diary” offers an intimate look into the life of a young Jewish woman living in the fascist Slovakia in the early 1940s

Recent release “Eva Neufeldova Diary” from Page Publishing author Vladimir Roth is a fascinating work that shares the recently discovered diary of a young Jewish woman living under the fascist antisemitic regime. This work has even more significance today due to the recent wave of antisemitism with some even calling for murdering the Jews in our country.

Vladimir Roth has completed his new book “Eva Neufeldova Diary”: a gripping and potent diary of a young Jewish woman living under a murderous fascist regime in Slovakia in the 1940s. The regime instituted the “Jewish Kodex”, a set of anti-Jewish laws stricter than the infamous Nurnberg laws in Germany. Eva contemporaneously describes how these laws touched upon her and her family’s lives. In spring of 1942 the regime began deporting Slovak Jews to Polish death camps. Out of 89,000 Jews living in the fascist Slovak state some 57,000 were murdered.

Author Vladimir Roth is the son of Eva. He was born and grew up in the town of Ruzomberok in Czechoslovakia. During the period of 1967-1968 the Soviet Union vehemently opposed the liberalization process known as the Prague Spring and therefore in August 1968 invaded Czechoslovakia. Thus, at age twenty, Vladimir became a refugee. He arrived by himself in the United States in April 1969.

Roth continued his education when he was admitted to the junior year of Brooklyn Polytechnic (today’s Engineering School of New York University). He received his BS aerospace engineering degree in June 1971. Vladimir met Marta Bloch in New York. They married in 1971 and had two sons, Dan and Gabe.

He continued his studies in graduate school at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) receiving a doctorate in applied mechanics in 1977. Vladimir stayed at RPI for four more years as a research faculty. In 1981, the family moved to Akron, Ohio, where he accepted a position in the Research Department of Firestone Tire and Rubber Company. He stayed at Firestone (later acquired by Bridgestone) for some thirty years and retired in 2014.

Even before the discovery of his mother Eva’s diary, family history became Vladimir’s hobby. This was due to its richness stemming from the events and the upheavals of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Many preserved photographs and documents add to the attraction and authenticity of his writings.

Roth writes, “I wrote two ‘bookends’ to the diary, an introduction and an epilogue. I later added an appendix with one pertinent story and images. In the introduction, I will familiarize the reader with the story of the diary, Eva and her family, place and time of the diary, as well as how I did the translation. The diary spans two years from July 23, 1940, when Eva was almost eighteen to August 22, 1940, when Eva was almost twenty years old. Since the last entry of the diary was in the summer of 1942, the epilogue goes beyond the end of the diary to describe Eva’s story up to the end of WWII in 1945.”

Published by Page Publishing, Vladimir Roth’s intriguing work serves as a time capsule into what it was like to live in this time in history.

Readers who wish to experience this eye-opening work can purchase “Eva Neufeldova Diary” at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes Store, Amazon, Google Play, or Barnes and Noble.

  • Author Gloria Thomas Pillow’s new book “Who We Are: Cameron High School Alumni (1957-1971)” is the compelling story of an all-Black high school in the segregated South.

Recent release “Who We Are: Cameron High School Alumni (1957-1971)- Nashville’s Last Generation of Segregated Education” from Page Publishing author Gloria Thomas Pillow is a compelling portrait of a group of teens who came of age in the era of segregation offering first-hand accounts of the lived experience of young Black Americans in the Jim Crow South.

Gloria Thomas Pillow, an author and editor, French and English teacher, great-grandmother, and retired professor of Literature at Michigan State University presently living in Nashville, Tennessee with her husband, Thomas, has completed her new book “Who We Are: Cameron High School Alumni (1957-1971)- Nashville’s Last Generation of Segregated Education”: a riveting story of a South must neither be revisited nor ever be forgotten.

“Who We Are” is a memoir—and a study—of a generation of Black youth (including the author) who were the last to be educated under the system of segregation. Specifically, it profiles the Cameron High School classes of 1957–71 in Nashville, Tennessee. Neither a scholarly treatise nor a sociological study, this is more precisely a recollection of events and behaviors and an exposition of the consequent issues, challenges, and life lessons that evolved from this circumstance. In six chapters, this book addresses the what, when, how, and why of who we are. To this end, the book explores the perfect storm created by the confluence of the city of Nashville, the institution of segregation, and Nashville’s Black community and its adult role models—especially the parents and teachers, and the Cameron High School experience itself.

“Who We Are” revisits the Cameron High School of the 1950s and ’60s and the profound impact of this school upon its students. As such, Cameron is emblematic of so many Black institutions of that era known for the incredible dedication of their faculty and their determination to prepare students to live full lives in the larger world as educated, respected, and respectful citizens of tomorrow. To provide a wider view of Cameron than the author’s perspective alone, the final chapter includes essays from other Cameron students and faculty.

“Who We Are” is a thoughtfully crafted journey back in time with a hopeful view toward the future. Framed by racial realities of that era and informed by historical, sociological, and psychological reference, it is, above all, a story of perseverance and possibility.

Published by Page Publishing, Gloria Thomas Pillow’s engrossing book is a must-read for any student of American history.

Readers who wish to experience this engaging work can purchase “Who We Are: Cameron High School Alumni (1957-1971)- Nashville’s Last Generation of Segregated Education” online at the Apple iTunes Store, Amazon, Google Play, or Barnes and Noble.
