Author S. Aminah Nialiah AKA Saundra Foster is a former member of Fotoba, a performing dance and drum troupe founded by Abdoulaye Sylla of Guinea, West Africa; a former dance student at Phyllis Stone Dance School; and a percussionist with Joanne James-Richmond and the Practicing Umoja ensemble, formally Natural Roots. She has taken drama lessons under the direction of Rome Neal of Nuyorican Poets Cafe. Her poetry is in the National Library of Poetry. She lists A West Hartford Conservatory (Kingwood-Oxford) Collaboration, at Jacobs Pillar in Westfield, Massachusetts. She performed an opening drum call for a youth festival in Greensville, North Carolina, “Many Colors of a Woman,” in Hartford, Connecticut, and many fund-raising events for the African Day Parade Committee, also in Hartford, Connecticut.

She danced and played drums at the SoNo Arts Festival, South Norwalk, Connecticut. The Dance and Drum Festival (two consecutive years) in Bloomfield, Connecticut; Kwanzaa and Black History Celebrations at the United States Postal Service on numerous occasions in Hartford, Connecticut; and numerous elementary and middle schools, colleges, churches, and civic and social events in the Greater Hartford community and surrounding towns, along with some off-Broadway productions in New York City in Yes (Damn It), at Trinity College in “Ti-Jean and His Brothers,” written by Derek Wolcott, directed by Tony Hall, and The Hartford Stage Company in “Oedipus the King,” written by Sophocles, directed by Jonathan Wilson, in her theater credits. She is a native of Connecticut by way of New York.

They are around the corners and in the back of our apartment. This complex is fairly large. It houses a lot of families and individuals.
