Mary F. Belmont announces the release of ‘Stepping Over Rooftops’
Mary F. Belmont marks her first foray in the world of fiction with the release of “Stepping Over Rooftops” (published by Archway Publishing).
Similar to Jennifer Worth’s “Call the Midwife,” this historical tale follows the journey of a young Italian nurse trainee into adulthood as she works alongside patients, teachers and other students to contribute to the promise of America through healthcare. The stories are taken from actual diaries and photos of nursing students from the late 19th century. These young women overcame prejudice and their own insecurities to succeed as pioneers in the healthcare of underserved people. It depicts the mystery, joy of saving a newborn, sadness of separation from the people and places they love, and romance all wrapped in the history of the era of mass immigration to America.
“I want young readers to know that you should never give up your dreams and that life is enriched by giving to others and that life is enriched by giving to others less fortunate,” Belmont says.
