Author Karen Lee Stradford opens up about her life journey in ‘Raw’
Karen Lee Stradford announces the release of her debut book titled “Raw” (published by Balboa Press).
This poetry collection is about self-reflection and embracing the inner self. Each poem gives readers a glimpse of the author’s journey as she experiences grief, love, happiness and sadness. It also depicts her relationship with family and friends as well as how she navigated through with different emotions. By sharing her story, it is the author’s hope that readers will be encouraged and challenged to “open up” and express their feelings when dealing with any situation in their life.
“In today’s society, many people tend to keep their emotions hidden,” Stradford states. “‘Raw’ is intended to show that it is okay to discuss their true feelings — from the current state of the world to personal experiences in their own lives. I would like for the reader to use poetry writing as a healing tool.”
An excerpt from the book reads:
You loosen your grip
just enough to let me breathe
I exhale
and realize.
