What Lisa brings to the table is understanding, clarity, self-reflection, compassion, and honesty. The kind of love that tells you what you need to hear, all the while loving you and understanding that the EGO will fight it. In “The Awaking”, readers will learn:

    • How to stop fixing your partner and focus on your own inner work

  • Author Vladimir Roth’s new book “Eva Neufeldova Diary” offers an intimate look into the life of a young Jewish woman living in the fascist Slovakia in the early 1940s

Author Vladimir Roth’s new book “Eva Neufeldova Diary” offers an intimate look into the life of a young Jewish woman living in the fascist Slovakia in the early 1940s

Recent release “Eva Neufeldova Diary” from Page Publishing author Vladimir Roth is a fascinating work that shares the recently discovered diary of a young Jewish woman living under the fascist antisemitic regime. This work has even more significance today due to the recent wave of antisemitism with some even calling for murdering the Jews in our country.

Vladimir Roth has completed his new book “Eva Neufeldova Diary”: a gripping and potent diary of a young Jewish woman living under a murderous fascist regime in Slovakia in the 1940s. The regime instituted the “Jewish Kodex”, a set of anti-Jewish laws stricter than the infamous Nurnberg laws in Germany. Eva contemporaneously describes how these laws touched upon her and her family’s lives. In spring of 1942 the regime began deporting Slovak Jews to Polish death camps. Out of 89,000 Jews living in the fascist Slovak state some 57,000 were murdered.

Author Vladimir Roth is the son of Eva. He was born and grew up in the town of Ruzomberok in Czechoslovakia. During the period of 1967-1968 the Soviet Union vehemently opposed the liberalization process known as the Prague Spring and therefore in August 1968 invaded Czechoslovakia. Thus, at age twenty, Vladimir became a refugee. He arrived by himself in the United States in April 1969.

Roth continued his education when he was admitted to the junior year of Brooklyn Polytechnic (today’s Engineering School of New York University). He received his BS aerospace engineering degree in June 1971. Vladimir met Marta Bloch in New York. They married in 1971 and had two sons, Dan and Gabe.

He continued his studies in graduate school at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) receiving a doctorate in applied mechanics in 1977. Vladimir stayed at RPI for four more years as a research faculty. In 1981, the family moved to Akron, Ohio, where he accepted a position in the Research Department of Firestone Tire and Rubber Company. He stayed at Firestone (later acquired by Bridgestone) for some thirty years and retired in 2014.

Even before the discovery of his mother Eva’s diary, family history became Vladimir’s hobby. This was due to its richness stemming from the events and the upheavals of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Many preserved photographs and documents add to the attraction and authenticity of his writings.

Roth writes, “I wrote two ‘bookends’ to the diary, an introduction and an epilogue. I later added an appendix with one pertinent story and images. In the introduction, I will familiarize the reader with the story of the diary, Eva and her family, place and time of the diary, as well as how I did the translation. The diary spans two years from July 23, 1940, when Eva was almost eighteen to August 22, 1940, when Eva was almost twenty years old. Since the last entry of the diary was in the summer of 1942, the epilogue goes beyond the end of the diary to describe Eva’s story up to the end of WWII in 1945.”

Published by Page Publishing, Vladimir Roth’s intriguing work serves as a time capsule into what it was like to live in this time in history.

Readers who wish to experience this eye-opening work can purchase “Eva Neufeldova Diary” at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes Store, Amazon, Google Play, or Barnes and Noble.

  • Author Kerry Watkins’s new book “Sect War” is an action-packed fantasy novel that takes readers into an epic battle of good versus evil set in a magical world

Recent release “Sect War” from Page Publishing author Kerry Watkins is an intense fantasy novel that takes place in a world where trees are hundreds of feet tall with leaves more than a dozen feet wide, and the inhabitants are dwarfed by the underlying vegetation of the immense forest floor.

Kerry Watkins, who was raised in Phoenix, Arizona, has completed his new book “Sect War”: a gripping and potent fantasy novel that immerses readers in another world. The forces of good and evil pair off in small-scale battles to determine the destiny of a colony, whether they live free of tyranny or succumb to the will of a brutally oppressive regime.

The difficult terrain made wheeled vehicles impractical and limited designs of military craft to those that closely resemble the only creatures capable of efficiently traversing the terrain—insects. All flying craft received the default name of sects and often incorporate design features too complex for most pilots to master. The first conflict using a fragile unreliable sect craft ended in a bitter stalemate. It was more of a pause in the fighting while both sides labored to reconstitute. Much has changed since then with technological advancements in flying craft design and complexity. The Feroci are in the preparatory stage of carrying out the final offensive to annihilate the last remaining colony of the descendants that left the Grand Hive generations ago to seek prosperity.

The Feroci have developed secret advanced crafts and a cunning strategy. Weary of war, the last colony has become complacent in limiting engagements to small scrimmages and mostly defensive operations. The colony leadership suspects the Feroci are planning a major offensive but have no idea where or when. They began dispatching scouts to find clues, but colony pilots hesitate to fly close to the Feroci homeland for fear of encountering the enemy’s leading ace in a craft called the Sect Slayer. A new sect crew chief encounters the enemy ace on his first combat mission and manages to survive after the pilot is incapacitated. In the process, he discovers love, a jealous new foe that wants to ruin his career, new allies, an old friend that wants to even the odds, and a determined enemy ace that wants to exact revenge against him and lead the Feroci forces to assured victory. So begins the Sect War.

Author Kerry Watkins comes from a military family. His grandfather was a World War I veteran, his father served in Vietnam, his siblings served in the U.S. Army and Marine Corps, and he has sons serving in the Air National Guard and Navy. He enlisted in the Army and served as a helicopter mechanic and crew chief with the 82nd Airborne Division’s Combat Aviation Battalion in North Carolina. Kerry spent seventeen years in enlisted service before obtaining a commission as an armor officer in the Washington National Guard. He deployed to Baghdad, Iraq, in 2004 where he began making notes of some of his experiences that would later be reflected in “Sect War.” He completed the manuscript in 2008 and shared the storyline and concept art with a few close friends that ultimately convinced him to publish it in 2020.

Kerry works for a large commercial aircraft manufacturer as an inspector. He obtained a solo-pilot certificate and volunteers his time restoring aircraft at Seattle’s Museum of Flight. Kerry has an interest in local politics and ran unsuccessfully for political office. He also served as a reserve police officer with the city of Everett. Kerry makes his home in Lake Stevens, Washington.

Kerry writes, “Sergeant Mix Brewster firmly clutched his soiled dark-green flight bag containing his aviator’s helmet, flight gloves, daily rations, and a few maintenance items as he walked along the flight terrace at a brisk pace. He held the oil and grease seasoned bag low and steady to avoid disturbing the contents as he looked down the long winding row of gangly winged mechanical craft. To his left, the brush-entwined jagged walls of the adjoining surface ascended nearly vertical, and to his right, a continuous arresting cable supported by meter-high bobbed poles bordered the steep edge.”

Published by Page Publishing, Kerry Watkins’s captivating tale offers an unforgettable adventure sure to keep readers eager to see what unfolds next.

Readers who wish to experience this compelling work can purchase “Sect War” at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes Store, Amazon, Google Play, or Barnes and Noble.

  • Author Gloria Thomas Pillow’s new book “Who We Are: Cameron High School Alumni (1957-1971)” is the compelling story of an all-Black high school in the segregated South.

Recent release “Who We Are: Cameron High School Alumni (1957-1971)- Nashville’s Last Generation of Segregated Education” from Page Publishing author Gloria Thomas Pillow is a compelling portrait of a group of teens who came of age in the era of segregation offering first-hand accounts of the lived experience of young Black Americans in the Jim Crow South.

Gloria Thomas Pillow, an author and editor, French and English teacher, great-grandmother, and retired professor of Literature at Michigan State University presently living in Nashville, Tennessee with her husband, Thomas, has completed her new book “Who We Are: Cameron High School Alumni (1957-1971)- Nashville’s Last Generation of Segregated Education”: a riveting story of a South must neither be revisited nor ever be forgotten.

“Who We Are” is a memoir—and a study—of a generation of Black youth (including the author) who were the last to be educated under the system of segregation. Specifically, it profiles the Cameron High School classes of 1957–71 in Nashville, Tennessee. Neither a scholarly treatise nor a sociological study, this is more precisely a recollection of events and behaviors and an exposition of the consequent issues, challenges, and life lessons that evolved from this circumstance. In six chapters, this book addresses the what, when, how, and why of who we are. To this end, the book explores the perfect storm created by the confluence of the city of Nashville, the institution of segregation, and Nashville’s Black community and its adult role models—especially the parents and teachers, and the Cameron High School experience itself.

“Who We Are” revisits the Cameron High School of the 1950s and ’60s and the profound impact of this school upon its students. As such, Cameron is emblematic of so many Black institutions of that era known for the incredible dedication of their faculty and their determination to prepare students to live full lives in the larger world as educated, respected, and respectful citizens of tomorrow. To provide a wider view of Cameron than the author’s perspective alone, the final chapter includes essays from other Cameron students and faculty.

“Who We Are” is a thoughtfully crafted journey back in time with a hopeful view toward the future. Framed by racial realities of that era and informed by historical, sociological, and psychological reference, it is, above all, a story of perseverance and possibility.

Published by Page Publishing, Gloria Thomas Pillow’s engrossing book is a must-read for any student of American history.

Readers who wish to experience this engaging work can purchase “Who We Are: Cameron High School Alumni (1957-1971)- Nashville’s Last Generation of Segregated Education” online at the Apple iTunes Store, Amazon, Google Play, or Barnes and Noble.
