Author Germain T. Gollo’s new book “West African Tales and Legends” shares a collection of stories from the oral tradition of the Ivory Coast

Germain T. Gollo, a passionate student, has completed his new book “West African Tales and Legends”: a collection of folklore and moral tales from the Ivory Coast in Africa. Gollo began by sharing his family’s stories with his students when he taught in an elementary school. He gave the children the opportunity to share the stories from their towns as well and decided to transcribe many of these stories that were born out of the oral tradition into print for readers of the English language to enjoy and be enriched by the tales.

This book is a collection of small tales or legends his parents taught him. He came to the United States with the manuscript he was still working on in French. When he became able to write in English, he found it necessary to translate it into French to allow his nephews to learn something where their father originated. He has been in school all his life for he loves to learn. Germain is currently working on a doctorate degree in transportation management from Atlantic International University of Hawaii in Honolulu.

About the Author

Billie Stephens-Ogden was born in Saginaw, Michigan, in 1943 of working-class parents. Her father died when she was 3 months old. In her childhood, she had an “imaginary” friend who helped her stay out of trouble but was forced to deny his existence by relatives. During this time, she had an intense desire to find God. She was allowed to attend churches of all denominations but after a few visits would always walk away saying, “God does not live here.” Creating and leading workshops and seminars, and public speaking, are some of her favorite activities because inspiring and sharing the love of life with others enriches everyone’s lives. She has lived in seven different states and Idaho is her favorite. She currently lives in Coeur-D’alene, Idaho, where she enjoys the process of aging. To her, getting older is like expanding her life rather than it withering away, and now because she has more time for thought and introspection, which has enabled her to work on this book. Stephens-Ogden and her husband have six beautiful adult children between them, a host of grandchildren, and two grown adopted daughters.

It would take way past my appointed time to hear it all because I was only with Bill for two hours a day, and some days, he didn’t say much and only said anything if we sat on that bench in the yard so he could see the mountains.”

Almost every household had relatives working at one of the corporations in this large blue-collar, working-class neighborhood. William graduated from the University of Baltimore with a major in English literature. While attending the university, he had three short plays published in an annual university publication.

After graduation, William was hired by a national corporation as part of a management training program. After working for two companies after college, William was able to start his own company which grew successfully and that he eventually sold many years later.

After the sale of his company, William retired from the world of business. He decided to return to his early passion for writing and published his first novel, “Toby,” followed by “The Pedophile Priests,” “The Blade Maker,” “The Palindrome Murders,” and his latest novel, “Reflections in a Mirror.”

William writes, “Director Wellington said, ‘We have three dead in Tullahoma, Tennessee, who were killed by a clown. He killed the convenience store owner, a cashier, and a customer who was shopping there. There’s a video of the entire shooting that may be helpful. Can’t tell much about the identity of the clown except for his shoes. He was wearing Nike Air Zoom Tempo running shoes. They were white with the Nike swoosh in Columbia blue. Because of a recent upswing in unsolved murders in Tennessee, Kentucky, and West Virginia, the legal authorities in all three states have asked the FBI for assistance to see if they’re possibly dealing with a serial killer. We need you and Agent Dickinson to start by investigating this clown killer and see what you can find out about those murders and your opinion as to whether this is a serial killer at large or not,’ ended Director Wellington.”
