William H. Tishler shares his knowledge in ‘Building Wisconsin’s Barns’
William H. Tishler, an emeritus professor of landscape architecture at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, examines the history of barns in Wisconsin and how they were built in his new book “Building Wisconsin’s Barns” (published by Archway Publishing).
Tishler explains the process of building these iconic structures in this book with breathtaking photos and drawings. The author highlights the traditions, carpentry skills, and backbreaking labor that have made barns a beloved component of the countryside. He also recaptures the techniques of an ancient form of construction that is rapidly becoming all but forgotten.
The author hopes that his book gives readers “a greater appreciation of the importance barns to the history of many Americans and why they should be preserved for future generations to admire.”
